Purpose

The study investigates why some immigrant families in Sweden do not send their children to kindergarten.

Result

The results suggest that the immigrant mothers had concerns related to their children's safety, their children's language development and the development of their home culture, and therefore did not send their children to kindergarten.

Design

The data material was collected through semi-structured interviews with ten immigrant mothers, before a thematic analysis was conducted.
