Undersøgelsens formål:The purpose of this dissertation is to gain knowledge of how child carers and teachers work with democracy and pedagogy. On the basis of a democracy project in Lund municipality the dissertation examines how institutions work with democracy, and what motives, incentives and actions affect this work.

Result

The interviews revealed that child carers and teachers took responsibility for the democratic objectives determined by the curricula, but that they needed support in order to meet these objectives in their work. It turned out that the behaviour of child carers and teachers was influenced by both social and societal conditions, depending on the particular work situation. The study shows that due to the democracy project, child carers and teachers paid more attention to children/pupils and made them more self-critical and more aware of issues of a democratic nature.

Design
